It's a Non-Ballast coil for use with Screw-In Leads (Not Push- In Leads).

*** NOTE - This may be coloured Black or Silver depending on what the supplier sends me ***

This function of this coil is to generate the 000's of volts required by your spark plugs, they deteriorate with age and the insulation between the wires inside can breakdown and therefore the coil needs replacing once in a while.
